Birthdays Less Disposables and More Reusables pt.2

Birthday party invites are not the go to here in Italy. At my daughter’s kindergarten, it’s not considered kind to leave notifications in childrens’ cubby holes as not every child can be invited to a party. Parents usually opt for the popular social messaging app Whatsapp to communicate it.

Paper invites can be held, put down and left lying around to inevitably pop up in unexpected places and times. Digital invites don't lend themselves to these types of experiences. Digital invites vie for attention over the gazzilion other images on the screen. I had to make it come alive and do basically what paper invites can't do—play music and drop confetti from the sky.
